Welcome to all our new members
A BIG warm welcome to our new Members.
You are now the proud owner of a Dobermann/s.
If you have already joined The Dobermann Club of the Cape, then we would like to take this opportunity to thank you. We hope that
with your support we can maintain a strong Dobermann following in the Western Cape. Your participation in joining any Training Club,
where you will be able to socialize and train your Dobe is well worth it. A trained Dobe is a dream, an untrained Dobe a nightmare!
Owning such a dog can be a heavy responsibility; the club is here to help you gain the maximum enjoyment and satisfaction from your
relationship with your dog.
Your Dobermann is a versatile and intelligent animal from one of the finest working breeds in the world. He is capable of taking part in
such varied sports and activities as Obedience, Tracking, Aptitude, Schutzhund and Agility Working Trails. He makes an excellent
police dog, or a Search & Rescue dog, but is equally at home as a therapy, seizure or service dog, or just as a beloved family pet.
Training methods have evolved over the years and dog training is now a lot more fun for both you and your dog than in the past.
Positive reinforcement or Clicker Training is now increasingly recognized as being better and kinder than the out of date method of
strangling your dog with a choke chain!
If your dog is of suitable quality, you may even be interested in Confirmation Showing and Ring-craft, possibly even breeding a litter
yourself. Those options are up to the individual, but if you want more information please call one of the members as listed below.
We are often asked the question “what is the function of the Dobermann Club?” Allow us to explain.
The Club exists as a custodian of the breed. We are there to give of our experience to newcomers, to assist in finding your new Dobe,
to help with problems that may arise, assisting in the health and welfare of the breed by keeping to recognized International and
veterinarian instructions and standards. Also to assist you in the training of your Dobe by recommending the nearest possible training
facility.
Please also send us pics/photo’s of your Dobe as well as snippets, funny or otherwise for our bi-monthly magazine, The Dobe Capers.
Attached please also find a membership form for any new Dobe owner as well as for those that have not yet renewed their
membership for the coming year.
If you find you have some spare time on your hands and would like to get more involved with your Dobe, then please do not
hesitate to contact me as we are always looking for “new blood” on the committee. Many hands make light work!
We hope that you have enjoyed your magazine & please feel free to send us any news you feel we may benefit from. Remember, it’s
your magazine and all contributions are welcome, especially pics and photo’s.
We wish you many years of loyalty and pleasure from your Dobermann, and hope that you will find the Club’s facilities helpful and
informative.
Kind regards
The Council. Dobermann Club of the Cape
